Practicing law since 2001, Alexandra has experience both in government as a Deputy Attorney General prosecuting healthcare providers on behalf of their respective professional boards, and as a private defense attorney representing individuals and business owners with a special focus on defending and assisting medical providers.

In the past 5 years, Alexandra was intricately involved in developing the primary Health Information Exchange for the Northern NJ region, with the development of State-wide policies around privacy and security of electronic health information and with a Regional Extension Center established to assist primary care providers to “meaningful use” of electronic health records. In addition, Ms. Garcia-Watts develops tailored Corporate Compliance plans for her clients; defends doctors and nurses in matters before their respective Professional Boards; defends providers against insurance audits and hospital privileges matters; and handles corporate transactions for healthcare entities and providers.

During her time with the NJ Divisions of Law, Alexandra was appointed by the Governor as Legal Counsel to the Nursing Advisory Council to Address the Nursing Shortage in New Jersey. Alexandra has enjoyed teaching legal issues in nursing to graduate and undergraduate nursing candidates. Prior to her admission to the Bar, Alexandra practiced nursing; worked with a major University’s Health Center; and was a Law Clerk in the Health and Hospital Law Department of Sills Cummis Epstein & Gross, P.C. in Newark, NJ, where she first gained experience handling corporate transactional work for medical practices, hospitals and nursing homes. She is fluent in Spanish and is also a member of the NY Bar since 2007.
